The Creative Den Experience

A time for children to explore, imagine and create.

Art and Embroidery classes that allow children the freedom to play and experiment with different media and techniques. Focusing on building confidence and self belief.

We offer art and embroidery classes at lunchtime and after school at St Stephen's Primary School in Bath.

Art Classes

Art Classes take place on Monday and Thursday afternoons, 3.20-4.30pm for children in Years 3-6. There are only 15 places available for each class to allow the children space and calm to focus on their art work.

The Creative Den Art Class involves opportunities for children to get lost in their own creative process. To create marks that are never wrong and learn to appreciate the journey that is artistry.

Children will learn new techniques and explore their own ideas in sketch books. Each term will culminate with an exhibition of work to share with parents and the wider community and children will bring home with pride their creations.

Each week we will be inspired by the work of other artists, different materials, the changing seasons and the world around us. Silk painting snow flakes in winter and exploring outdoor weaving in summer.

Creative Embroidery Classes

Creative Embroidery Classes take place on Monday lunchtimes for children in Years 3-6 and Tuesday lunchtimes for children in Years 1-2. There are only 10 places available for each class to create a calm, nurturing environment with lots of 1:1 guidance.

Children attending the club will be allowed to have an early lunch in the lunch hall to ensure they have plenty of time to eat before they begin.
The classes will take place in the comfort of the school library where children can sit with friends on sofas or on the carpet to explore their art.

Children will work on a project each half term, building up their sewing and embroidery skills in a creative and personal style. This will not be a 'stitching by numbers' style of sewing. Children will explore the tactile beauty of textiles and have freedom to play with colour, texture, pattern and technique.

We will use sewing hoops as well as sewing felt decorations, embellishing with beads and sequins and weaving. All of the children's work will  be theirs to take home and cherish at the end of the term.
